Let’s just say it up front: Josh and Jett are awesome!
Josh is the right fielder for the Houston Astros and a World Series champion in 2017. Jett holds degrees in sports medicine and clinical psychology, is an accomplished snowboarder and wakeboarder, and is an ambassador for SheShredsCo. Together, they are a wonderful combination of talent and fun! Following Josh’s proposal at Space Center Houston, Jett reached out to us to create their wedding stationery.

Of course, we were excited. Baseball is a big deal in our house: Melissa grew up rooting on the Cardinals, and Jon is a Braves fan (and a fantasy baseball nerd). We knew from the outset that this was going to be a special project: It’s not every day the guest list reads like a winning fantasy baseball lineup! With that came some unique challenges – not the least of which was a need for discretion and a dash of secrecy. Since both Jett and Josh are in the public eye, it was crucial for us to set them at ease and deliver the level of personal service we’re known for. We listened to their ideas and gave them suggestions based on our expertise. We wanted them to know from the beginning that they could trust us to create something special.
Finding the Theme
We’ve talked before about the importance of theme and concept, especially if you’re trying to combine different themes in your wedding. Josh and Jett’s wedding was a perfect illustration of how to combine very disparate things: Spider-Man, wrestling, board games, baseball, and, yes, elegance! How in the world do you invent a theme that integrates and expresses all of those things? Easy: You don’t!
Instead, Jett and Josh had one concept: Fun! Each very different part of their wedding and the lead-up to it had its own moment and place in the overall celebration. Pulling off a mashed-up set of themes wasn’t the focal point. Instead, the focus was the joy they have in one another, in life, and in sharing that joy with their friends and family. Their guests were invited to participate in the fun, because there was nothing contrived about it!

Creating the Magic
Save the Date
Leading off (sorry, couldn’t help it) was a baseball-themed Save the Date. Jett came to us with an idea for a ticket-style piece, and we ran with it. Guests received a stylized ticket with Josh & Jett’s engagement photo that included a laser-cut perforation for added realism. Also included in the gorgeous top-open envelope was a custom-embroidered 3″ iron-on patch. Altogether, it was thematic, unusual, and fun: the perfect first impression for their celebration!
Invitation & Program
Our Pocket Monopoly suite was what initially drew Jett’s eye. She found us after being disappointed in the quality of other companies’ offerings in this theme, and we’re glad she did! A highlight of this design is the caricature of the couple on both the invite and the optional add-on program. Every time we design this piece for a client, it’s one-of-a-kind. That means Josh & Jett didn’t have to make a lot of changes to find what they wanted; and with a wedding that has as many parts as theirs did, it was our pleasure to make something easy!

Place Cards & Menu
For the reception, we brought it home (again, sorry) with baseball. Tables names and numbers came from legendary baseball players and their uniform numbers. For example: Joe DiMaggio (Table 5), Cal Ripken (Table 8), and some guy named Josh Reddick (Table 22). 😂 Jon, the Braves fan, appreciated that Chipper Jones got a mention on Table 10.
Place cards were ticket-themed with guests names above their seating info and a reprise of the “Heart R” emblem from the patch. The red in the place cards and the stitches of the baseball on the menus made for a nice pop of color on the table.

Closing It Out
Through it all, Jett and Josh were an absolute joy to work with! Despite the glamour of the diamond, the baseball life involves a lot of travel, planning, and hard work. We were so honored to be able to be there for Jett and Josh, to relieve some of their stress, and to create a suite of wedding stationery that reflected their fun and unique nature. Congratulations again, you two!
